Fixing Stem Separation on macOS (SIP issue)

If Stem Separation isn’t working in Mixed In Key Pro on your Mac, the issue is usually related to System Integrity Protection (SIP). Re-enabling SIP fixes the problem in most cases.

Follow the steps below to make sure SIP is enabled on your Mac.

What is SIP?

System Integrity Protection (SIP) is a security feature built into macOS that helps protect critical system files. It is enabled by default on all Macs, and most users will never need to change it.

The only people who usually turn SIP off are advanced users — for example, when testing older software, running certain development tools, or using custom “Hackintosh” hardware. If SIP was disabled on your Mac for one of those reasons, re-enabling it is the fix that makes Stem Separation in Mixed In Key Pro work properly again.

How to Enable SIP

  • Restart your Mac in Recovery Mode.
  • Open Terminal from the Utilities menu.
  • Run the command: csrutil enable
  • Restart your Mac normally.

Once SIP is enabled again, Stem Separation should work as expected in Mixed In Key Pro.
